And Not a Drop to Drink
|And Not a Drop to Drink|
|Rewards:||XP, Iron, Inventory Bag|
Background[edit | edit source]
The defeat of Kyzogg the Reanimator has given John Bourbon enough time to plan the next major step for his people and the Taken, but while he does so, the protagonist needs to help out the survivors inhabiting the old prison.
One of the survivors the Taken needs to help is the settlement's handyman, Barnabas. He reports that the wind pump has broken down and Devil's Crossing is running low on water. Even though there's a river nearby, the water in it is too contaminated by all the corpses floating in it, so the only option is repairing the pump. To accomplish this, Barnabas needs some scrap.
Objectives[edit | edit source]
- Collect Scrap for Barnabas (0/5)
- Bring the Scrap to Barnabas in Devil's Crossing (0/5)
- Slay Viloth the Corruptor (0/1)
- Return to Barnabas
Guide[edit | edit source]
Return to Barnabas with 5 pieces of scrap and he will reward you with 350 Experience and 300 Iron.
Barnabas will then say that although the pump is repaired, the water appears to be poisoned, and he suspects there is a nest of Slith in the cave that supplies the water. He asks you to find and kill the matriarch of this Slith pack so that the water will become drinkable again.
Rewards[edit | edit source]
|Reputation||+100 (Devil's Crossing)|
Outcome[edit | edit source]
After the pump is repaired, and its water source purged of its poisonous inhabitants, Devil's Crossing gets a functional source of drinking water. That's one key necessity for survival which will not be a problem in the foreseeable future. And Captain Bourbon is one step closer to deciding where to strike next.
Quest Log[edit | edit source]
|Barnabas in Devil's Crossing wishes to repair the prison's water pump, but he needs Scrap.
He could melt down the few weapons the survivors have, but dying unarmed to the Dead is not any better than dying of thirst.
Find Scrap amongst the ruins of Lower Crossing and old houses in Wightmire, and bring it to Barnabas.
|Barnabas believes that Slith have inhabited the cave Devil's Crossing pumps for water. Slith are foul beasts that secrete poisons lethal to humans.
Find and kill the matriarch of this Slith pack so that the water will become drinkable again.
|Viloth, the Slith matriarch has been slain by your hand.
Return to Barnabas in Devil's Crossing and inform him that the water will soon be safe to drink again.
